The Client

The Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (“BNMC”) strives to promote a knowledge-based transformation of Western New York through the biomedical research, education, clinical practice, and entrepreneurship of its member institutions.

The Goal

The BNMC requested a video for the launch of their “GO BNMC” campaign, an initiative connecting its employees to alternative transportation options and to one another. The program was designed to alleviate transportation and parking issues anticipated due to the rapid growth of the campus. The video presents commuting options to BNMC employees in an interesting and interactive way.

The Project

The Northern commuter interactive web video was designed to be an entertaining way to demonstrate the various commuting options for BNMC employees. Much like a “choose your own adventure” story, the web video features a Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus employee who has to reach the BNMC. The viewer is able to choose which transportation methods the employee tries as she makes her way through the work day.

Throughout the interactive video the BNMC employee has options to drive, carpool, ride the bus, take the train, walk, car share and bicycle. Each segment of the video gives an overview what is involved with each transportation method (how to use Buffalo CarShare, carpool, take the train, etc.) and highlights the benefits and/or drawbacks for the options the viewer chooses.

Nickel City Graphics produced all aspects of this project, including generating the concept, writing the script, on-location shooting, editing, creation of motion graphics and implementing the final interactive version.The video is featured on the page in its full-scale interactive version and in shorter, stand-alone versions of each segment.
